I always go through phases with my work. For months on end I will create and watch Youtube videos and come up with ideas.....and then the inevitable happens....I stop, become stagnant and create nothing for months and months. This usually happens during the warmer weather when weekends are spent on the beach or at the pool and it is just too hot to feel creative. It happens to me every year. And every year it feels like a struggle to get motivated to get back to the process. Once I do, which is where I am heading now, I wonder why I ever stopped, or wonder why it took me so long to get back into drawing because I love it. I love sculpting something on the paper from nothing. I love turning lines into pictures and colors into beautiful things. I do have several commissions that I am working on right now, but I am in the midst of moving my art studio to a slightly larger room, so it is taking time away from creating, again. But once I get that studio up and running, I hope to be spending a lot more time in the studio. For now, enjoy the art already on the site, it's the same stuff I've had for a while, but I am hoping to have new items on here soon.

This is the Father's Day portrait I did for a client of mine. Graphite pencil on bristol board 11 x 14. She teared up when I gave it to her which is always a plus for an artist! I am currently working on a new one, and am hoping that this client (who ordered TWO portraits) is just as pleased!

I've been so busy the last several weeks doing portraits that I haven't had any time to create any new pieces for my site! Granted, doing portraits really gives me a sense of accomplishment because getting a likeness and capturing a person's personality makes creating the piece a challenge that I thoroughly enjoy! I will post some on my blog when they are complete so you can all enjoy them too!
